Sir John Brune

• 1577 John Brune was of Athelhampton Hall, Dorset, the son of Henry Brune & Elizabeth Martyn. He was born about 1577 [from age at death]
• 1594 John Brune matriculated from Oxford
• He married to Bridget Seymour, daughter of Sir Edward Seymour.
• 12 June 1626, “1) Sir John Brune of Athelhampton, Dorset, Knight and Dame Bridget his wife rented out some land. [Held by Archives and Cornish Studies Service.]
• He passed away in 1639 and was buried at Puddletown[2] A Memorial erected by his nephew is now indecipherable .The text according to Hutchins read:
• Sir John Brune of Athelhampton knight who married Bridget, daughter of Sir Edward Seymour of Bury Castle in Devon, Bart; died in the Lord, aged 62 years, without issue, and here buried March the 25th 1639 Register- Sir John Brune was buried 25th March 1639
