Biographical Summary

"Sir John Dalzell, Baronet [S. 1666], of Glenae, 1st s. and h., by 3d wife ; suc. to the Baronetcy, Sep. 1685, and was served heir to his father, 2 Sep. 1686; M.P. [S.] for Dumfries sheriffdom, April to June 1686 and 1689 till death in that year ; suc. his grandfather 24 Feb. 1689. He m., 16 June 1686, his cousin, Henrietta (b. 10 May 1661), 2d da. of Sir William Murray, 1st Baronet [S. 1664], of Stanhope, by Janet, da. of James (Johnstone), 1st Earl of Hartfell [S.]. He d. March 1689."
