Sir John Gordon, 4th Baronet of Park

Biographical Summary

"Sir John James Gordon, Baronet [S. 1686], 1st s. and h., b. at Boulogne in France, 26 March 1749; suc. to the Baronetcy (but to no estate), 5 June 1751 ; entered the Royal Legion of France, 1774, but afterwards joined the East India Company's service. He m. in India, Hannah, da. of T. Corner, of Middlesex. He d. 11 Dec. 1780, aged 31, being slain at the siege of Bassein, on the coast of Malabar, in India, leaving a son. His widow d. in Sloane street, Chelsea, 28 Jan. 1792. Admon. March 1798."
