Biographical Summary
"Sir John Hamilton, the eldest son, had the designation of Carriden in the lifetime of his father, to whom he was served heir 23 April 1642. He had previously been created a Peer of Scotland under the title of Lord Bargany, 16 November 1641, with limitation to the heirs-male of his body...
...He died April 1658. Lord Bargany married, 1632, Jean Douglas, second daughter of William, first Marquess of Douglas. She died 1669."
