John Webb was the son of John Webbe (c1530-1570) m(2) Anne Wylford
Sir John Webbe (c1556-c.May 1625) of Odstock and Great Canford m.c1583 Edith Faulconer, m.c1585 Catherine Tresham (28 Dec 1556-26 Oct 1623) daughter of Thomas Tresham of Rushden, Northampton. He was born in Old Stoke (Odstock), Wiltshire, just south of Salisbury. She was killed when the old Blackfriars Church in London collapsed during a sermon. He was knighted on accession of James I in 1603.

Sir John was the son and heir of Sir John Webb, of Odstock, co. Wiltshire, and Great Canford, co. Dorset, by his second wife Catharine Tresham, dau. of Sir Thomas Tresham, of Rushton, co. Northampton.[1]
