“ Death of SIR H. W. BECHER, Bart. The announcement of the death of Sir Henry Wrixon Becher, Bart, at Ostend, will be learned with very deep regret throughout the south of Ireland, where he had many friends, and where he was highly esteemed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was the eldest son of Sir William Becher (the first baronet) and Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. John O’Neill, and was born in 1826, succeeding his father in October 1860. He married on the 20th February 1878, Florence Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. Frederick Walker, of the Priory, Bath. He was a Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant of County Cork, and had the honour of serving as High Sheriff in 1876. For some time he served in a Rifle Brigade, where he was extremely popular. He owned 18, 933 acres, of which the valuation is 10, 528 pounds, principally in the county of Cork, and with his tenants he held the most friendly relationships. During the land struggle there was no disturbance of these relations, and evictions on the property were unknown. He will be succeeded by his brother, Mr. John Becher, M A Cabtab, D L, J P, of County Cork, who also served as High Sheriff in 1857. He was born in 1828, and on the 6th May, 1857, married Lady Emily, daughter of the second Earl of Listowel. “
