John's Legacy

Giles's heir to his Braose lands was his son John, aged three and a half in 1305. He inherited Woodlands in Dorset and Buckingham castle and town. As a minor, his guardian was Richard Le Lou.

It has a printed family tree of the Lord Colville family showing the marriage of Richard's daughter, Margaret, to a member of the Colville family which then had issue. Margaret also had married a Devereaux which led to many outstanding family lineages. Margaret's Colville marriage leads to a marriage with the Ufford family which leads down later in this Braose family line to where Sir John de Braose marries a daughter in the same Ufford family. This Sir John is the subject of this profile.

Third but first surviving son of Sir Giles de Brewes and his second wife, Joan de Beaumont. Grandson of Sir Richard de Brewes and Alice de Rus, and Richard de Beaumont.

Husband of Eve de Ufford, daughter of Sir Robert de Ufford and Cecily de Valoines. They had one son and one daughter:
