About Sir John de Montfort, 1st Baron Montfort
11/21/20 Janet Milburn writes Sir John de Montfort, 1st Baron Montfort is my/our 21st great grandfather. : The above photo is of a model of the Beaudesert Castle , Henley in Arden, Warwickshire. Unfortunately nothing now remains of the castle although the moat can still clearly be seen on Henley 'Mount', it is supposed that local residents of long ago removed all the stones to build nearby villages. The model therefore represents a visualisation of how it may have looked as there are no known contemporary prints or drawings in existence.
Recent excavations by TV's Timeteam concluded that there probably was not a stone keep in the manner shown here but as virtually nothing now remains to base this upon it must be considered pure guesswork on their behalf
The castle model can be viewed at Henley in Arden Heritage centre
