"Sir Michael Robert Shaw-Stewart, Baronet [S. 1667], of Greenock, 1st s. and h., b. 26 Nov. and bap. 25 Dec. 1826, at Ardgowan ; ed. at Eton ; suc. to the Baronetcy, 19 Dec. 1836 ; matric. at Oxford (Ch. Ch.), 31 May 1844; sometime, 1845-46, an officer in the 2d Life Guards; M.P. for Renfrewshire, 1855-65 ; Lieut.-Col. 1st Renfrew Vols., 1860 till death ; Grand Master Mason of Scotland, 1863 ; Sheriff of Wilts, 1883. He m. 28 Dec. 1852, at St. Geo. Han. sq., Octavia, 6th da. and 8th child of Richard (Grosvenor), 2d Marquess of Westminster, by Elizabeth Mary, da. of George Granville (Levesok-Gower), 1st Duke of Sutherland. He d. at Ardgowan 10, and was bur. there 15 Dec. 1903 (after an operation, six days before death), aged 77. Will pr. at £120,902. His widow, who was 6. 22 Sep. 1829, living 1904."
