About Richard Fettiplace of East Shefford
Richard was born about 1460 in Of, Shefford, Berkshire, England. Richard's father was John FETTIPLACE and his mother is Jane FABIAN. His paternal grandfather was Thomas FETTIPLACE and his paternal grandmother is Beatrice KINGE; his maternal grandfather is Edward FABIAN. He had three brothers and a sister, named Thomas, William, Anthony and Margaret. He died in 1511 in Bessiles-Leigh. His burial was before May 1511.

The eldest son, Richard died in 1511, and was buried in the chancel of the Priory Church at Poughley, leaving property not only to that church, but also certain lands 'to be seized to the use of the Parson and his successors of East Shifford for 99 years to keep an obit there for my soul and to yearly keep in order the said parish Church', and to maintain lights there.
Elyot later married Elizabeth, widow of Richard Fettiplace of East Shefford and daughter and heiress of William Bessels of Besselsleigh.
