About Sir Richard Foley Foley-Philipps, Baronet
Sir Richard Foley Foley-Philipps, Bt. (1920-1962)
- Mother, born Eleanor Etna Audley Thursby-Pelham, first married to Alan Frederick James de Rutzen, the Baron de Rutzen of Slebech Hall who was killed in the First World War. Sir Richard was from her second marriage to Capt. George William Fisher Philipps, later Foley-Philipps by Royal Licence (1922) in honour of Eleanor's mother's family, the Foleys of Ridgeway House in Llawhaden. Eleanor's son also married a Philipps of Picton, her second husband's niece, namely Sheila Victoria Katrin Philipps.
Sir Richard inherited the Philipps baronetcy (of the 1887 creation) on the death of his first cousin, the third baronet, in 1948. He died unmarried and without issue in 1962. He never lived at Picton Castle.
