Biographical Summary
"Sir Richard Murray, of Cockpool, 6th son of Sir Charles Murray, of the same, by Margaret, daughter of Hugh (Somerville) Lord Somerville [S], succeeded, in 1620, his elder brother Sir James Murray in that estate, and was created a Baronet [S], 19 July 1625, sealed 20 October 1625, with rem. to heirs male whatsoever, and a grant of , presumably, 16,000 acres in Nova Scotia, entitled the Barony of Cockpool, of which he had sasine in October following. In 1635 he had sasine of the lands of Lockerbie, Hutton, Hoddam etc. He died s.p. probably unmarried, in 1636."

"(403) Sir Richard Murray of Cockpool, died s.p. 1636. He was served heir to his brother, Sir James (No. 402), 28th March 1621 and 1st June 1630. On 19th July 1625 he was created a BARONET.
ARMS in Font's MS., c. 1624. Same as Sir Charles (No. 401).
He was succeeded by his brother."
