Biographical Summary

"Sir Robert Alexander Osborne Dalyell, or Dalziele, Baronet [S. 1685], of Binna, 1st but only surv. s. and h., b. 1821; ed. at Trin. Coll., Cambridge; M.A., 1847; Barrister (Inner Temple), 1849; served in the Consulate at Bucharest, 1855-58; Acting Consul Gen. at Belgrade, 1858-59 ; Consul at Erzeroom, 1859 ; at Jassy in Moldavia, 1862, and at Roustchouk, 1865-74; suc. to the Baronetcy, 16 Feb. 1865. He d. unm., 21 Jan. 1886, at " The Binns," aged 65, when the male issue of the 3d Baronet became extinct, and the assumption of this Baronetcy ceased."
