Sir Robert le Strange of Elsing

He is styled Robert Le Strange of Elsing, though he was reported byTudorplace as born in Pakenham (spelled in some sources as Pokenham).The Le Strange website does report him as born in Elsing Hall, but italso reports the other brothers born there, while it appears they wereall born in different estates.  This matches a common medievalpractice of birthing an heir in the estate already designated for that child.

There is some confusion between sources over the spouses of Robert andhis brother Roger, and the identity of Robert's  wife.  Tudorplacereports Robert married to Margaret Le Strange (of Westbury,Northamptonshire), while the Le Strange Website reports him married toAnne L'Estrange.  The latter appears to be the same Anne Le Strangethat the Tudorplace site reports as the wife of brother Roger!  Butother sources report Roger's wife as Amy Heydon.  Further, this Anne is reported to have died in 1497, but Robert's last child, a daughter named Ann, is reported to have been born in 1499.
