Sir Spencer John Portal, 4th Bt. was born on 14 May 1864.1 He was the son of Sir Wyndham Spencer Portal, 1st Bt. and Mary Jane Hicks-Beach.2 He married Mary Laura Florence Mure, daughter of Lt.-Col.
