About Sir Thomas Nicolson of Carnock, 2nd Bt.
Biographical Summary
"Sir Thomas Nicolson, Baronet [S 1637] of Carnock, son and heir; born 10 June 1628; succeeded to the Baronetcy, 8 January 1646. He married Margaret, daughter of Alexander (Livingstone), 2nd Earl of Linlithgow [S], by his 2nd wife, Mary, daughter of William (Douglas), Earl of Angus [S]. He died 24 July 1664. His widow married in 1666, as his 4th wife, Sir George Stirling, of Keir, who died s.p. 1667. She married thirdly, in 1668, as his 1st wife, Sir John Stirling, of Keir of Cawdor, who died 1684. She died 1674."

Sir John Houston, Baronet [S. 1668], of Houston, s. and h. ; was M.P. for Linlithgowshire (three Paris.), 1708-15 ; Commissary of Glasgow ; suc. to the Baronetcy in Dec. 1717. He m. Margaret, da. of Sir John Shaw, 2d Baronet [S. 1687], of Greenock, by Margaret, da. of Sir Thomas Nicolson, 2d Baronet [S. 1637] of Carnock. He d. 11 Feb. 1722, " in the flower of his age," leaving his estate burdened with some 200,000 debt. His widow d. (a year before her son) 29 Jan. 1750."
