  • (IX) Sir William (3) Booth, son of Sir George Booth, of Dunham Massey, married (first) Margaret, daughter and co-heir of Thomas Ashton, of Lancashire "by whom a large inheritance in Lancashire and Cheshire came to the family of Bothe;" she died before 1504. He then married Ellen, daughter and co-heir of Sir John Montgomery, of Kewby, in Staffordshire. Sir William Booth possessed various manors in Cheshire, Yorkshire and Cornwall. He died November 19, 1519, and was buried at Bowden.

She married (1st) before Jan 1473 GEORGE BOOTH, Esq. of Dunham-massey, Bollin, and Wilmslow, Cheshire, son and heir of William Booth, Knt., of Dunham-Massey, Cheshire, Sheriff of Cheshire, by Maud, daughter of John Dutton, Esq. He was born about 1445 (aged 32 in 1477), They had three sons, William, Knt., Lawrence, and Roger, and three daughters, Margaret (wife of George Holford, Knt.), Alice (wife of William Massey), and Ellen. In 1483 William Ruynon quitclaimed all his land he had Warminster, Wiltshire which he had by feoffment of Leonard Stapleton of George Booth and his wife Katherine, John Leightion, and Robert Cressett and his wife, Christian. Gearog Booth, Esq., died 21 March 1484. He left a will dated 17 March 1480, requesting burial in the new chapel of St. Mary in Bowdon, Cheshire. His widow, Katherine, Married (2nd)______ Ferror. She died 7 Dec. 1498.

He married (1st) MARGARET ASHTON (or ASSHETON), daughter and co-hairess of Thomas Ashton, Knt., of Ashton Under Lyme, Lancashire, by his 1st wife Margaret, daughter and heiress of Ralph Staveley, Esq. They had two sons, George, Esq., and John. He married (2nd) ELLEN MONTGOMERY, daughter and co-heiress of John Montgomery, Knt., of Throwley Staffordshire. They had five sons, William, Edward, Gent., Hamlet (or Hamo), Henry, and Andrew, and three daughters Joan (or Jane), Dorothy (wife of Edward Warren, Knt.), and Anne (wife of William Brereton). In 1511 he sold his 1/6th share of the manor of Furnax (in Warminster), Wiltshire to John Fitzjames, later Lord Chief Justice. SIR WILLIAM BOOTH died 11 Nov. 1519. His widow Ellen, was living 18 Nov 1523.
