William Keith
Children of Sir William de Keith
Sir William de Keith witnessed in 1270 a charter of confirmation of a donation to the monastery of Paisley. He is here designed simply 'dom Willielmus Keth, miles,' and it seems doubtful whether he ever held the office of Marischal. The author of 'Caledonia' states that William succeeded as heir to his father John, but that the former 'appears not in history and little in the charters.' He died before 1293.
He is said to have married Barbara, a daughter of Adam de Seton, ancestor of the Earls of Winton, called also daughter of Adam, Lord of Seton. [The Scots Peerage VI:29-30]
