About Sold August Plaszick
Sold August Plaszick was a veteran of the French Foreign Legion and the Afrika Korps. He was murdered by fellow POW's at Camp 132 near Medicine Hat Alberta. Three POWs were tried for his murder. Werner Schwalb was hung, one sentenced to life in prison and one was acquitted. CBC Digital Archives
In 1970, Plaszick was disinterred from Hillside Cemetery, Medicine Hat, Alberta and buried in the German War Graves Section in Woodland Cemetery in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. The servicemen were buried two to a grave according to the names on the headstone. He is buried with Karl Reiss.
