The son of John Seicrist, a miller in the Old Antietam Settlement, Washington Township, Pennsylvanis. In his will, John Seicrist devised his mill and lands to his two youngest sons, Solomon and John, to be divided as they might agree---with the proviso that the two would pay the other heirs what two impartial appraisers agreed the property to be worth. In 1809, John having come of age, the brothers agreed on a division. In 1812, they modified the agreement. In Dunker fashion, neither agreement was recorded until 1833. John's anticipatory heirs had become concerned about legal titles. The 1812 agreement, in which Solomon sold the mill and six acares to John, described the mill and land concerned as bouned by the said Solomon Seicrest, David Monn, John Hess, and David Mentzer, "to include the new house and stable built by Wilson and Reilly, the carpenters, and whcih they now enjoy." Higb Scott Davenport---Foutz Family researcher Roots Web World ConnectProject: Ancestors and Cousins of Emily Wilde. Gives his name and aproximate date of marriage.
