Sonora Rosaline Dustin

Sonora Roseline Call married Fornatus Dustin February 2, 1845 in Warsaw, Illinois. They were a part of the Mormon Overland Travel of 1847 - 1868. They were among the members of the Warren Foote Company of 1850. Fornatus was then 24, Sonora was 23. Their son Andrew Fornatus was 3 and son Oscar Cyral was 1. Also on the same wagon train were Sonora's father Cyril Call 64, his wife Sarah Tiffany age 59, their twin son's Homer and Omer age 16.

Sonora Roseline Call Dustin died March 5th 1906 at Farmington

Leakage of the heart.

Had experienced many of the hardships known to Mormon History.

Sonora Roseline Call Dustin who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Rampton, in Farmington on March 5, 1906 of leakage of the heart, would have been eighty years old on the twenty-ninth of next December. She had been ailing since last October. She was the last of seven sisters of a family of thirteen children. Her twin brothers Omer and Homer Call, of Willard, Utah, are the only ones to survive her. She was a sister to the late Anson Call and Samantha Willey of Bountiful.

Her father was a pensioned soldier of 1812.

Mrs. Dustin was born in Madison, Ohio.

The fall of 1838, she expected to settle on Grande, River, Missouri, where her brother Anson Call had purchased a farm, but before they reached Far West, they were stopped by a mob. In the spring of 1839, they crossed into Illinois where her father purchased a small farm in the town of Warsaw, where they lived until February 1845, when she was married to Fornatus Dustin.

The same fall they moved to Nauvoo where they lived in her brother Anson's house.

In 1846 her husband and herself and brother and others started for the Rocky Mountains in the company of Bishop Miller. They, however, wintered on the Missouri River, at the mouth of the Running water river on lands belonging to the Ponca Indians. The company ran short of provisions during the winter and suffered much for want of food. In the spring they moved back to Winter Quarters where they remained until 1850, when they crossed the plains with ox teams in Captain Foote's company. After arriving here, the first winter was spent in Bountiful.

May 21, 1851 a company was organized in Payson, under Apostles Amasa M. Lyman and Charles C. Rich, to go to California. The company purchased a ranch in San Bernardino.

They remained there until the fall of 1857, when they returned to Utah where the family remained until after the "Move" in 1858.

In 1860 or 1861 the family moved back to California and after living in Sacramento, and several other near by towns, and moving to Oregon, they finally settled at Acampo near Stockton, California, where her husband died in 1872.

In 1878, she returned to Utah and has lived in this county since. She made a few trips back to look after her interests there. She has an eighty acre farm there for which she was offered $110.00 an acre just prior to her demise.

Funeral services were held in the Farmington Meeting house, Thursday, March 8th. The speakers were Elders Israel Call, Patriarch Judson Tolman, Geo. W. Palmer, W. W. Willey, Bishop Gordon of Rigby and Bishop Secrist.

The remains were laid to rest in Bountiful Cemetery where her father and mother and a sister are buried.

Deceased has three children living in this county, son Arthur, and Mrs. Walter Rampton, at Farmington and Mrs. David Thompson in Clearfield, Oscar Dustin, Mrs. Cylista Wilkinson, and Andrew and Charles Dustin at Acampo and a daughter, Elnora in Fresno, California. Three children preceded her to the great beyond.

She was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1836 at Kirtland, when she was ten years old."
