Zofia Szydłowiecka (born 1513, died 1551) –Krzysztof Szydłowiecki’s daughter – who could not possibly have been present at the signing of the union. It is most likely that this character was supposed to be Zofia Tarnowska (born 1534, died 1570), Duke Konstanty Wasyl Ostrogorski’s wife, and Jan Amor Tarnowski and Zofia Szydłowiecka’s daughter. Such identification is prompted by the character’s relatively young age. It is probable that by placing Zofia Tarnowska in the painting Matejko wanted to stress the inheritance of a powerful family whose male line became extinct when Zofia's father, Krzysztof Szydłowiecki, died.
