About Sophie Margareta Amelung

Sophie Meier was born in 1745.

She was a daughter of the Hoforganisten in Hanover. Sophie moved in 1790 from Grünenplan to Holzminden where her husband had a house. She wanted to follow her husband in 1798 to Livland, with the youngest children, however, she received the message of Anton's death. She had bore her husband 23 children - there 6 therefrom, adopted. 14 of the children survived and 11 of those were minor children. She remained with the younger children in Hannover to care for them. In 1806, she was invited to stay with her daughter, Koeler, in Mainz where she died suddently in 1807 at a friend's house in Wörrstadt in Mainz.
