About Sophie Pearl Felckowski (Platta)

Sophie Pearl Felckowski (1916 - 2011) | Visit Guest Book Sophie Pearl Felckowski, age 95 of Oshkosh, died on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Park View Health Center in Oshkosh, WI. She was born September 12, 1916, the daughter of Alex and Rose (Ostrowski) Platta. Sophie attended schools in the town of New Hope and Fancher. She had been employed in Stevens Point and Milwaukee. On October 28, 1939 she was married to Leo E. Wiczek, and together they owned and operated a dairy farm in Buena Vista, Wisconsin until Leo's death in 1971. In 1974, Sophie married Ben Felckowski, who preceded her in death in 1996. Directly thereafter, she moved to Oshkosh where she lived for 15 years under the care of her loving family. She was a long time member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic parish of Fancher, and more recently of St. Raphael Catholic parish of Oshkosh.

Sophie was a remarkable seamstress, gardener, homemaker (and artist in her later years). Outdoor life was her forte, and besides gardening, she most enjoyed fishing, traveling, and visiting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing pinochle and yahtzee; reading kept her up on the times.

She will be sadly missed by her survivors who include three children and their spouses: Shirley Lucas (daughter) and spouse John of Oshkosh, Judy Wiczek (daughter) of Oshkosh, Patricia Klestinski (daughter) and spouse Robert of Reedsburg. A son, Robert Wiczek, preceded her in death. Surviving also is his spouse, Barbara, of Buena Vista.

Her eight grandchildren are Kathryn Lucas March and spouse Jim March of Sioux City, Iowa, Christine Lucas Grondin and spouse Brian Grondin of Glendale, Debbie Lepper and spouse Troy of Stevens Point, Brenda Schweke and spouse Pat Shibilski of Plover, Scott Wiczek and spouse Cheri of Almond, Lee Ann Klestinski of Madison, Grant Klestinski of Reedsburg, and Tina Pilarski of Plover. Sophie also has nine great-grandchildren: Stephanie March, Lucas Grondin, Brett Cychosz, Brooke Lepper, Roxanne Schweke, Alexandria Shibilski, Megan and Alex Wiczek, and Taylor Pilarski.

Sophie is further survived by a sister Regina Wiczek of Stevens Point and 25 beautiful nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her son Robert, her parents, three brothers: Roman, Stanley, and Clarence Platta, and three sisters: Grace Kuffel, Eleanor Platta, and Evelyn Pleimling.

The family wishes to thank the loving, caring staff at Park View Health Center, Oshkosh, for all their kindnesses.

A Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Fancher. Father Robert Pedretti will preside. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Fancher following the mass on Tuesday. A memorial has been established in lieu of flowers. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements.
