LITTLE CEDAR—Funeral rites are pending for Herbert L. Penney, 69, who died Sunday morning in the Cedar Valley hospital at Charles City; had peritonitis following a ruptured appendix, occurring June 16; body at the Champion funeral home
Born on Sept. 8, 1884, to George and Mary Jane (Pierce) Penney, on a farm east of Stacyville; married Gladys Makepeace of Little Cedar In 1910; had lived on farm near Little Cedar all of his life since a small child, until retirement in 1952 to Little Cedar.
Survivors include his wife, two sons, Howard, Little Cedar, and Stuart, Stacyville; a daughter, Mrs. Harry Drum, Ruthven; seven grandchildren, and a brother, Sidney, Little Cedar.
Preceding him were two children in infancy; two brothers. Spencer and Clinton H., and a sister, Mrs. Mary Elliott.
