Benjamin Miller was the son of Thomas Miller and Sarah Nettleton. He was married to Mary Johnson 18 Sep 1695 in Woodstock, CT, and had the following children: Mary, Rebecca, Benjamin, Sarah, Hannah, Isaac, Mehitabel, and Ichabod. After the death of wife Mary, Benjamin married Mercy Bassett in 1710. They had the following children: Lydia, Amos, Ebenezer, Martha, Rhoda, David and Thankful. He is also the forefather of Winston Churchill

Note that "in his 76th year" means he had not yet reached his 76th birthday.
So the birth date of 1672 agrees with his age on his tombstone.
