About Staranise Orangaiti Hinerangi Waru
Police will re-examine the case of a seven-month-old Christchurch baby a coroner found died after being shaken by one of her parents. In his report released yesterday, coroner Richard McElrea said Staranise Waru was shaken to death by either her mother Nyree Hopa or father Robert Waru. Staranise died in hospital in February 2006 from a severe brain injury. Police launched a homicide investigation, but no one has been charged over the death.
