2nd US Sharpshooters (Berdan’s Sharpshooters) Mustered In: November 2 1861 Promoted to 1st Sergeant at Gettysburg July 4 1863 Re-enlisted 12/23/1863 Promoted to Captain April 27 1864
Wounded by a shell at North Anna River May 23 1864. Recuperated in Washington DC and was discharged January 15 1865. He died during his trip home to Maine on August 14, 1865. He was able to reach his Uncle's house in Monmouth Maine where is parents were able to visit him before hi died. He was 28 years old.
