About Steve Hofmeyr
Steve Hofmeyr is one of South Africa's best-known Afrikaans singer/songwriters, although is he also known for his acting, writing and poetry.
Born in Pretoria, Steve went to Grey College in Bloemfontein, where he graduated in 1982.
He did two years of compulsory military service before joing the Pretoria Technikon drama school.
He starred in the 1990 Franz Marx film Agter Elke Man (Behind Every Man) and in 1992 joined the cast of M-Net's flagship soap opera Egoli: Place Of Gold. He played the role of Doug Durand on Egoli from 1992 - 2001.
In 1997 his music career took off when he recorded a duet for his album True To You with Belgian superstar Dana Winner, called You Don't Bring Me Flowers.
The song was recorded in Flemish and shot to number 2 on the Belgian Top 100.
Steve won SAMA awards for Best Selling South African Artist in 2003 and 2004.
In 2006 he hosted his own show on Afrikaans channel kykNET, called Dis Hoe Dit Is Met Steve (That's How It Is With Steve).
He married actress Natasha Sutherland in 1998 and the pair have had two children.
Steve has another three other children.
Hofmeyr married Janine van der Vyver on 26 January 2014.
Hofmeyr's grandfather was Steve Hofmeyr Sr., a leader in the Ossewabrandwag.
