Gurine var arving til bruket på Svinestad, og de bodde der fra 1865 til 1875. Ikke lenge etter bygde Stian nye store hus på Holmesland, de som står der ennå. Odelsgutten Ole døde ung, og ætta hans løyste ikke ut gården. Dattersønnen Olaf Pedersen, som var oppvokst hos lensmann Stoveland, Kom til gards som tjenestedreng, men meninga var at han skulle overta bruket. Han fikk skjøtet i 1904.
