About Stockton Rush

Stockton Rush was the CEO and founder of the submersible company OceanGate Inc., best known for its tourist explorations of the wreck site of the Titanic.

On 18 June 2023, Rush was piloting the Titan submersible on a trip to the Titanic wreck site when all communications were abruptly lost. On 22 June 2023, after the submersible's oxygen supply had been exhausted, the United States Coast Guard announced that debris from the Titan had been located on the sea bed and that the debris field was consistent with a catastrophic implosion of the vessel. That same day, OceanGate publicly confirmed that all five men aboard were presumed deceased; the USCG immediately thereafter confirmed the loss of all five aboard. United States Navy sensors, which detected the implosion at the time it occurred, pinpointed the implosion time -- and therefore the date of death of the occupants of the Titan -- to be on 18 June 2023.

One salient detail.Wendy, Mr. Rush's wife is direct descendant of Isador Straus and his wife who were passengers on the Titanic.
