About Sultan Hamengkubuwana VII Raden Mas Murtejo (1877-1920)

WIKI

Notes At the time of Sultan Hamengku Buwono V's death, he did not have a son as heir to the sultanate, because his children were all women, while the empress, Gusti Kanjeng Ratu (GKR) Sekar Kedaton was pregnant, which was 13 days after Sultan Hamengku Buwono V died, gave birth to a son and the child was named Gusti Timur Muhammad, who after the age of 12 received the title of Gusti Pangeran Haryo (GPH) Suryengalogo. Because Gusti Muhammad was still a baby, and to fill the vacancy of the sultanate throne, Prince Mangkubumi (younger brother of Sultan Hamengku Buwono V) was appointed Sultan Hamengku Buwono VI, with the condition that when Gusti Muhammad grows up he will be appointed the next Sultan. However, it turned out that the Sultan preferred to appoint his son as his successor (crown prince) who would later become Sultan Hamengku Buwono VII.

This caused disappointment to the family of Hamengku Buwono V, especially GKR Sekar Kedaton and GPH Suryengalogo who then started resistance to Sultan Hamengku Buwono VII. Then GKR Sekar Kedaton and GPH Suryengalogo were found guilty of rebelling and "TRANSFERRED FROM YOGYAKARTA TO MANADO SELEBES" with a Decree from the Sultanate of Yogyakarta Hamengku Buwono VII delivered through Dipati Danureja and Resident Befembag reads as follows: the land of the Kingdom of Ngayogya, my words are this: Tuan Kanjeng Prameswari and Kangmas Pangeran Suryengalogo both, I moved from the land of Ngayogya to the land of Menado, because uwa, kangmas dared to rebel (rebel) against the King. Leaving the city without saying goodbye, and waging a crusade; killed a Usar soldier, a servant of the Dutch Gupermen. Because of that, Kangmas and Uwa Jeng Prameswari made the mistake of disobeying the King's government. April 11, 1883. ”

Based on the Decree from the Sultanate on GKR Sekar Kedaton and GPH Suryengalogo along with his first wife and children, as well as all his followers, left accompanied by the Resident to board a ship from Semarang to Manado. In Manado he met with his brothers who had previously been moved from Yogyakarta to Manado, namely Bendoro Prince Haryo Hadiwijoyo (son of Sultan Hamengku Buwono VI and brother of Sultan Hamengku Buwono VII) and his wife and children, picked up a group from Yogyakarta on board and invited Prameswari and GPH Suryengalogo occupied their house in Pondol village.

GPH Suryengalogo, 4 years later called his second wife, Raden Ayu Dayaningsih, who was in Yogyakarta to live in Manado, and a year later had a handsome son. But Raden Ayu Dayaningsih quickly left everything. GPH Suryengalogo finally died in Manado on January 12, 1901. After his death, GKR Sekar Kedaton was bought a house by Sultan Hamengku Buwono VII to be occupied by him with his children and grandchildren. Kanjeng Bendoro Pangeran Haryo (BPH) Hadiwijoyo has been considered his own son by GKR Sekar Kedaton, especially after GPH Suryengalogo died. BPH Hadiwijoyo finally died in 1916, and was buried in Manado, but later by his descendants his tomb was moved to Hastorenggo Kotagede Yogyakarta.
