Susan Jeanne Andel

Susan was born Aug. 11, 1949 in Breckenridge, MN, one of five children born to Joseph and Wanda, (Jones) Mehl. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School through the eight grade and then graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1967. She was united in marriage to Harvey Andel at St. Mary's Catholic Church, April 27, 1968. They remained in their hometown where they raised their four children and Susan ran a home daycare. Her career transitioned from the care of children to the care of senior adults at the Leach Home in Wahpeton, ND. She was employed at the Leach Home for many wonderful years in various positions. She loved the Lord and treasured her relationship with him.

Never one to have idle hands, Susan loved to quilt and embroider. She enjoyed the simple things in life like listening to music, feeding the birds and squirrels and tending her flower garden. Those who knew her best knew that she also enjoyed playing the occasional practical joke. Susan was very devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren.

Susan passed away at her home in Breckenridge on Monday, July 25, 2016. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Harvey, Breckenridge; her children, Brenda (Doug) Koppelman, Breckenridge, and their children, Shawn, Josh, Erika, Erin and Ellyse; Mark Andel, Breckenridge, and his children; Hunter, Logan and Haylee; and Kari Andel, Breckenridge and her children, Jefri and Dusty. She will also be missed by her six great-grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews; her siblings, Phyl (Roger) Herding, Raleigh, NC, David (Mary) Mehl, Conway, SC, Sandie (Tom) Schillinger, Billings, MT and Teri (Jon) Dalager, Woodbury, MN

Susan was preceding in death by her parents Joe and Wanda.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016 with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge. Visitation will continue from 9:3-0-10:30 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2016 at Breckenridge Lutheran Church, followed by the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Rene Hasbargen will officiate the service. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Breckenridge.
