Susan Kay Underwood

Susan Underwood, 83, of Marshall, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

In keeping with her wishes, Susan has been cremated. A private service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation of Union City.

Born in Tecumseh, MI, she was the daughter of Clinton and Edna (Wackenhaut) Hoelzer. Susan attended Clinton High School, graduating with the class of 1958. Susan married her high school sweetheart, Gary B Underwood, in 1962 at the Clinton United Methodist Church. Gary preceded Susan in death, in 2019. Susan and Gary owned a Chevrolet dealership in Brighton, Michigan for many years, before retiring and eventually settling in Marshall. Susan loved golfing when she was younger, especially visiting Walloon Lake to enjoy the lake life. She was also an avid U of M football fan. She loved her Wolverines.

She leaves behind her sons; Scott (Tracy) Underwood of Howell, Mark Underwood of Cheboygan, and John Underwood of Marshall; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband of 57 years, she was also preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, John Hoelzer.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan, at 2500 Watkins Road, Battle Creek, Michigan 49015.
