About Susanna Gill

Susanna Barber was born about 1765, a daughter of Samuel Barber and Martha Henry.

She married Isaac Gill, a son of William Gill and Esther Wells, in 1789 in Northumberland County (present-day Union County), Pennsylvania.

Mother of seven children.

Between late 1823 and mid 1830, Mrs. Gill joined her stepson John Gill and her sons Isaac, Thomas, Matthew and Abner Gill in Ohio after the death of her husband.

In 1830, Mrs. Gill was probably living in the household of John Gill in Tallmadge, Portage County (present-day Summit), Ohio

In 1840, Mrs. Gill was likely living in the household of her son, Thomas B. Gill, in Northampton Township, Summit County, Ohio, near Cuyahoga Falls.

As no entry has been found for Mrs. Gill in the burial register of Oakwood Cemetery (Cuyahoga Falls) where her family members were interred, she may have accompanied her sons Isaac Gill and Abner Gill and their families to Lincoln Township, Delaware County (present-day Morrow County), Ohio in 1842. The Gills settled at Stiner's Corner (Steiners Corners, a former hamlet north of Fulton). Isaac Gill and Abner Gill both sold their individual properties there on 6 November 1844 and departed for Lucas County, Ohio and Whitley County, Indiana respectively. If Mrs. Gill did not accompany them, she may lie buried in one of the many unmarked graves at Stiner's Corner Cemetery (Asbury Cemetery).* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Nov 30 2021, 16:05:15 UTC
