About Susanna Sophia Wilhelmina Lotter, Els
Place of death previously noted as Palmietfontein, Bophirima, North West, South Africa - this is very unlikely. This area was known as the Republic of Stellaland (Dutch: Republiek Stellaland) and was Boer republic located in an area of British Bechuanaland (South Africa's North West Province). After unification with the neighbouring State of Goshen, it was known as the United States of Stellaland (Verenigde Staten van Stellaland) from 1883 to 1885.
First Boer War (1880–1881) and Second Boer War (1899–1902).
Given that Susanna was born in the Eastern Cape, and her second husband Nicolaas Jacobus Els was born and died in the Eastern Cape, it is far more likely that Palmietfontein refers to Palmietfontein in the Somerset East area of the Eastern Cape.
Searched gravestone library and could find neither Els nor Lötter connections in Palmietfontein area in the North West.
UPDATE (2018/08/20): Death Notice confirms Eastern Cape. Attached on Source Tab.
