Susanna Margaretha Moodie

After Daniël Elardus and Johanna Maria left Rietvlej farm in 1905, the house was occupied by his sister Susara Mageretha and her husband Thomas Dunbar Moodie [? see below]. Prior to this, 1895 to 1905, Thomas Dunbar [? see below] and Susara Moodie lived on a farm called Rietfontein (Rietfontein small holdings, “plotte”) west of RNR. The ridge was named after them, ie Moodie’s Ridge.

HOWEVER, this is an error - Susara Magaretha Erasmus married Thomas Dreyer Moodie (b. 1874) son of Groot Tom & Cecilia (as stated in the Moodie Book), whose sister Johanna was married Susara's brother Daniël Elardus Erasmus

Susara Margarita Erasmus (born Doornkloof, 23 June 1884) married, at Pretoria 9 December 1902, Thomas Dreyer Moodie,born 5 May 1874, son of Thomas Moodie and Cecilia Jacomina Roberts.

Susara Margarita? or Susanna Margaretha? or Susara Margrietha ?

Thomas Dreyer's sister Johanna Maria Moodie married Daniel Elardus Erasmus, born Doornkloof, 14 August 1870 (the son of Michael Christian Elardus Erasmus) so perhaps Susara/Susanna Margarita/Margaretha and Daniel Elardus were sister and brother?

Looking through the Erasmus tree there is a Susara Margrietha Erasmus (sister of Daniel Elardus Erasmus, daughter of Michael Christian Elardus Erasmus) who was born on 23 June 1884. I believe her to be the one and the same person, although, according to "RIETVLEI NATURE RESERVE - A Historic Summary by Deon Storm" Susara Margrietha was married to a Thomas Dunbar Moodie!! The only Thomas Dunbar which I have found of the relevant age (born 6 June 1880) is the son of Donald Moodie, SV1b4, and his wife Helen Joanna McIntyre, but he was born in the Cape. I think it more likely that the two Moodie siblings living in the Transvaal married the two Erasmus siblings from a neighbouring farm.
