Susannah Hancock

Susannah Hancock was born in 1772 in Fluvanna County, VA and died in 1862 in Evening Shade, Sharp County, AR. She was a daughter of John D. Hancock & Elizabeth Maddox.

Susannah was the wife of David Drury Spurlock (1785-1846). They were married in 1804 in VA. The couple had 9 children:

• Rhoda Spurlock Osborne (1807-1904).
• David Drury Spurlock (1818-1904).
• Robert T. Spurlock (1823-1908).
• John "Johnny" Spurlock (1825-1872).

• Pleasant Spurlock (born 1805, Floyd Co.,KY).
• Willliam S. Spurlock (born 1812, Floyd Co.,KY).
• Frances Spurlock (born 1814, Floyd Co.,KY).
• Jesse Spurlock (born 1820 Floyd Co.,KY).
• Nancy Spurlock (born1822 Floyd Co.,KY).

Burial in the Spurlock Family Farm Cemetery, Evening Shade, Sharp County, AR.

Another source says she "was born about 1772 in , Fluvanna, Va and was christened 11 Nov 1770 in St James Northam, Goochland, Va." -- but of course that doesn't make sense for her to be christened before she was born! Maybe it was another Susannah Hancock.

In 1802 her father died, leaving her a portion of his estate.
Two years later she married David Spurlock.

David Sr. died in 1846 in Evening Shade, Ark. Susanna lived with son, David Jr until her death. She is not listed with any of her sons in 1860 (Pleasant, William, David, Robert or John).
