Susannah Johnson was born 1839

On December 06, 1859, she married Matthew Martin Gay in Emanuel County, GA. Their children are Matthew Martin, Jr. (1860), John Batt (1859), Mattie L. (1861), Leonia M. (circa 1863), Charlton J. (1865), John Louis Gay (1871), Susanna Gay (1873) and Tullalah M. (circa 1878) Gay.

On March 21, 1890, her husband preceded her in death.

On December 4, 1906, Susannah (Johnson) Gay, age 67, died with burial in Elam Baptist Church Cemetery, Four Points, Jenkins County, Georgia.
