Sylvester Ziola

Sylvester Ziola, 87, of 800 Stoeger Drive, died Saturday.

Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Laurence Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery at Hastings.

Visitation was to be Monday from 3-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Ziola was born April 17, 1898, at Farwell, the son of Andrew and Anna Bawicz Ziola. He received his education in Ashton public schools and began farming. Later he became a machinist and welder. He worked for Kelly Well Co. in Grand Island as a machinist, moving to Hastings in the later 1950's. While in Hastings he worked for Spitz Foundry until retiring in 1963.

On Oct. 28, 1961, he married Marie Prawl at Loup City. They lived in Hastings, moving to Grand Island in 1978.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. John (Beverly) Eastman of Grand Island and a son, Garold Prawl of Bridgeport, N.Y., nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Edmund of Grand Island, and three sisters, Mrs. Clara Grudzinski of Ravenna, Mrs. Theo (Louise) Newman of Mission, Kan., and Mrs. Fred (Sophie) Lutte of Leavenworth, Kan.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, a sister and a son.
