Last night I spoke with Sylvia Wright Wolk. She is the daughter of Sarah the butcher and, she is 91 and lives in southern NJ. Her uncle Pincus Wright was a guest at your GREAT grandparents 50 anniversary. Her husband , deceased, was 1st cousin to Herman Wolk. Sylvia has a brother Julian Wright who lives in Billings, Montana. Sylvia’s aunt is Jenny Wecheilbaum, Sarah the butcher’s sister. Their mother was a Kreinik [Rachel] a sister to my Grandfather [Tobias]. This coming Thursday, we are leaving for Florida and will be returning the first week in March. SYLVIA WRIGHT STERN, cherished Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Aunt and Friend, died on Monday, November 9 at the age of 93.

She was a graduate of Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri and for over 50 years, a resident of New Orleans, where she actively volunteered in the Hemodialysis Unit of Touro Infirmary (named in honor of her late father) and Children’s Hospital, among other organizations, which she and her late husband supported in varied ways.

She will be remembered for her grace, humility, other-directedness, limitless compassion and generosity. Her deep love of family and friends was legendary and defining and she considered both to be the greatest privilege of her life.

A native of Eunice, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Sadie and Louis Wright; sister of the late Morris Wright, Sophie Wright Kerstein, Sidney Wright and Lillian Wright Levin; and aunt of the late Joan Kerstein.

She was predeceased by her adoring husband of 54 years, Warren L. Stern.

A Memorial Service will be held at Longue Vue House and Gardens, 7 Bamboo Road, New Orleans, Louisiana 70124 at 3:30 pm on Thursday, November 12. Private Interment in Metairie Cemetery.
