Son of Marmaduke Beckwith and Sybel Ellzey. Married Nancy Ann Bailey, daughter of Samuel Bailey. She was born c1787 [1790] VA, died 23 Mar 1857, Jackson Co., VA.
Bought a tract of land in Jackson Co. called “Beckwith Ridge”. The land lies close to the south bank of the Ohio River, as the cemetery page location map and topographic map for Ravenswood illustrate.
He was a veteran of the War of 1812.
