About Tarewai Wesley
I used to spend school holidays with Uncle Terry and Auntie Edna at the Kaik in Otakou. There was an old draught horse we could ride and also a sled that we could hook on. Another favourite pastime was getting cockles and fishing for flounders with a dinghy and a glass bottomed box. We used spears. Never saw much of Sutton but they had a 'cussie' Ivy Karaitiana staying. The wharepaku was a long drop and the toilet paper was newspaper. There were other kids and we had a ball. No life jackets!
