About Tena Schneider

Mrs George Schneider passed away at her home on Monday morning at 3 o'clock, Nov 4. 1918. About ten days ago she was taken ill with influenza, pneumonia developing later and death resulted.

Tina Schneider, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Garmer Kleen, was born January 22, 1873, in East Friesland, Germany. About the age of ten years she came with her parents to America and settled at Minonk. Here she received her school education and was also educated in the Christian religion and was confirmed in St. Paul's church, thereby becoming a member of the church.

She was married to George Schneider, Dec. 24, 1895, in the same house where she died, it at that time being the Lutheran parsonage. To this union were born five daughters, namely: Clara, Susie, Ethel, Mable and Katherine, all at home.

Besides her husband and the above named children she is survived by the following brothers and sisters: William Kleen, of Logan. Ia.; Theodore Kleen, of Judd, Iowa; Mrs Lewis Anderson, of Rippey, Ia; Mrs Harm Fischer, of Benson, and Mrs Wm von Behren of Minonk.

Mrs Schneider was a woman very much devoted to her family and church, ever ready to serve whenever called upon. She had a pleasing disposition and consequently a host of friends who deplore her early departure.

Funeral services were held from the home Wednesday afternoon at 1:30, Rev Kettelhut officiating and burial was made in the Minonk cemetery.

The pallbearers were Jacob Barth, Al Underwood, Henry Kalkwarf, Peter Kohl, George Eilts and Al Meierhofer.
