Tetory was the daughter of Kenos Pharoaoah and Unisia (Hamilton) Sword. She married Robert Lee Spears in 1898. Some of their children are: George Dewey Spears (1899-1918), Willie Goble Spears (1906-1963), Mary Spears Slone (1913-2000), Andy Spears (1915-1918), Ella Spears (1918-1918), John B Spears (1903-1979), Emma Spears (1908-1983), Emmitt Spears (1911-1975), and James Spears (1921-1976).
