Thaddeus Peet

Thaddeus was born 28 Jan 1728 in Stratford, Connecticut, according to "History of Stratford 1639-1939"[1]. He is the son of David Peet and Mary Titherton. He was married to Catherine Fairchild in 1748. [2] They had 5 (five) daughters and 3 (three) sons: Thaddeus b. 1748, Mary b. 1749, John Thomas b. 1750, Ruth b. 1757, Comfort b. 1758, Ethiel b. 1762, Hannah b. 1763, Priscilla b. 1765.

He was present at the formation of St. Andrew's Church in the village of New Preston, Connecticut, according to "History of the Towns of New Milford and Bridgewater, Connecticut, 1803-1882", Chapter XIX.[3]

There are several census records, for 1790, 1800, and 1810, that list Thaddeus as head of household, which I believe are definitely this Thaddeus. However, since his oldest son is also Thaddeus and they lived in the same village, once they are both over age 45 it is more challenging to determine to which Thaddeus the individual records refer as they only list head and break the household members down by broad age ranges.

He was still alive, in Warren, Connecticut, in 1805 when his wife Catherine died, according to the local newspaper. [4]
