About Thelma Gertrude Admas
Thelma Kaufman, 90, of Wooster, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, in Smithville-Western Care Center. Born March 4, 1913, in Carroll, she was the daughter of Clarence Ray and Preshie (Strickling) Adams. She was a homemaker and had worked for the Wayne County National Bank; owned and operated the Gulliette Hat Shop in her home; and later, at the J.J. Newberry Store, was a representative for Vivian Woodard Cosmetics and was their Sales Queen in 1967 in Sugarcreek. She also taught voice and piano. She was a member of Parkview Church of Christ, the Order of Eastern Star, Amaranth, Wimodosis, White Shrine of Jerusalem, choir director for children and adults in Columbus and Wayne County, member of the Sunnyside Club, Christian Women United Fellowship, MacDowell Club, East Ohio Gas Women's Chorus, professional Christian sacred music soloist in Columbus, Medina and Wayne County, Cub Scout den mother, DeMolay Mother's Club, Rainbow for Girls board member, Christian Business Women's Association and the Headstart Program in the 1960s and '70s. Surviving is a son, Ben (Pat Campbell) Kaufman of Smithville; grandchildren, Deborah and Richard Miller of Paris, Ray Kaufman of Cameron Park, Calif., Tim and Tammy Kaufman of Sommerset, Calif., David Jr. and Colleen Lehman of Dallas, Texas, Maurice "Mat" and Tammy Lehman of Junction City, Kan., Ken and Tonja (Lehman) Mydra, Mark and Lori (Gilbert) Lehman of Wooster; great-grandchildren, Megan (Johnson) Sherman of Gahanna, Sasha (Kaufman) and Pat McCarthy of Carlsbad, Calif., Deborah Kaufman of Cameron Park, Calif., Johstin and Castiney Lehman of Dallas, Texas, Nicole and Jennifer Lehman and Nicholas Myrda of Wooster. She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, "Bus" E.T. Kaufman, son, Ray, daughter and son-in-law, Judith and David Lehman Sr.; and a great-grandson, Brian Sherman. Friends will be received at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill Street, Wooster, on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. with an Eastern Star Memorial Service at 5:45 p.m. Services will be held at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Dean Hammond officiating. Interment will follow in Wooster Cemetery.
