About Thelma Teckla Honeck

GEDCOM Note

Thelma contracted rheumatic fever as a child and was not allowed to continue school past the 8th grade. That she was not allowed to continue school saddened her greatly. She was employed at the Chelsea Milling Company and Federal Screw Works. Thelma married Edwin “Bo” Paul on June 28, 1947, at St. Mary’s Church on Congdon Street in Chelsea, Michigan. She was a homemaker and took wonderful care of her family of daughters. She was a terrific cook, baker and seamstress. When she made orange rolls for the St Mary Altar Society bake sale, the rolls never made it to the sale. They were purchased by Helen Vogel before Thelma ever got downtown to the sale. The family lived in the house she grew up in, 420 Garfield Street, Chelsea, Michigan. She was quiet and did not say much, but what she did say was very thoughtful and profound. Bo was born April 10, 1921, in Kewanee Bay, Michigan. He worked at the Rockwell Standard/International plant as a tool and die maker most of his life and he retired from there. Bo preceded her in death on November 21, 1990 of heart failure. Thelma died in 2000 at the Hospice in Ann Arbor, only 18 hours after arriving there. She remained in her home until shortly before her death, whereupon her daughter, Janet took tender care of her at her home. She died of heart failure. Thelma had lived in her childhood home on Garfield Street for 71 years. Her remains are buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Chelsea, not far from her parents, across the road.
