Theodocia Snelling was the daughter of William Snelling and Sarah Scott. She was born March 27, 1807 in Breckinridge County, Kentucky. She married John Hutchison (or Hutchinson) in Caldwell County, Kentucky on May 28, 1828. By 1850 they were living in Missouri with four children. In 1870, she was living with her daughter in Lane County, Oregon, where she died in 1887. She is buried in the Gillespie Cemetery, Eugene, Lane County, Oregon. Theodocia Hutchison was buried next to her son, William C. Hutchison. He died twenty years earlier, at the age of 32.

Theodotia Snelling was the daughter of William Snelling & Sarah (Scott) Snelling. Her older sister was Sarah Scott (Snelling) Tandy and her older brother was Daniel S. Snelling, who are also buried in Gillespie Cemetery. Theodotia Snelling married John Hutchison about 1828. They had six children. At the age of 49, John Hutchison died in California on 30 Sep 1851. Gertrude Hutchison, their youngest child, was two years old. Theodotia Hutchison was the grand-aunt of Damaris T. (Benson) Gillespie, Rev. Jacob Gillespie's daughter-in-law. Theodotia Hutchison was buried next to her son, William C. Hutchison. He died twenty years earlier, at the age of 32.
