Theodor Gabrielsen

Theodor became on of Mandal's 'pillars of society', after having bought the family store in Store Elvegade in 1885. Th.Gabrielsen continued to exist as an all purpose store until Theodor's grandson Finn Gabrielsen sold out in the early(?) 1980s. In its heyday several of his children worked in the store notably Nils who took over after his father and Agga (who did the accounts). Being a large family with most members living in the house, it was a busy and probably crowded place for many years. Theodor also dabbled in shipping, buying shares in ships, and became a substantial shareholder in Sjølingstad Ullvarefabrikk.
